Rifts Character Generator Update
Work continues… slowly. I feel like it’s two steps forward, one step backward. The problem isn’t the complexity of making a Rifts character (though that doesn’t help) so much as the technology I’m using to write it.
ReactJS is amazing; I love it. But the deeper I go into it, the more complicated it gets. For example, in order to have “global state,” I have forgone Mobx and am now using React Context hooks. They’re very slick and very powerful, but damn they’re confusing. I’ll get through it though. I have a tutor who helps me out with this stuff.
Unrelated, I’ve been dabbling in Python (a computer language) a bit. People rave about Python but, frankly, I don’t get the big deal. Thus far, I’m not a fan.
On a more positive note, my Rifts Primer & Adventures book arrived today! I was pleasantly surprised that Kevin Siembieda signed it without my even requesting it. Cool! I’m looking forward to flipping through this book.
I also got the new Rifts Glitterboy mini last week!
Anyway, that wraps it up for this update!
