RC Builder Testing, TotalCon 2023, GenCon 2023!

Hello!

I have significant updates since my last post, which was way back in November. Let’s jump right in!

RC Builder Testing

Thanks to the diligent work of several testers, I’ve been able to make some enhancements to RC Builder and squished many bugs in the process. Some enhancements/fixes:

  • Feature: Can now add “Sentiments Towards” fields in character background

  • Feature: Added support for R.C.C.s

    • Added R.C.C. Malvoren

    • Added R.C.C. Cactus People

    • Added R.C.C. Darkhound

    • Added R.C.C. Flooper

    • Added R.C.C. Altara

    • Added (fixed): Lyn-Srial and Sky-Knight

  • Feature: Backstory generator! This feature uses GPT-3 to generate an appropriate backstory for your character. (Note: this is temporarily disabled, but it will be back!)

  • Feature: You can now select optional “Human Abilities” as described in Lone Star

  • Feature: Added penalties for very low attribute scores

  • Feature: You can now add currency of any type (CS credits, Black Market credits, etc.)

  • Enhancement: Tooltips are easier to read

  • Enhancement: Back and Next buttons in the header look less ugly

  • Enhancement: Redesigned Psionics and Magic tables for a more consistent experience

  • Enhancement: Cyber-Knights can provide a text description of their Psi-Sword blade

  • Enhancement: You can now re-roll bonuses from physical skills without needing to remove and re-assign the skill.

  • Fixed: Sub-skills for Gymnastics and Acrobatics are now removed if the parent skill is removed

  • Fixed: Quick-Draw Initiative bonus for P.P. over 17

  • Fixed: Various aspects of selecting tattoos for Atlanteans

  • Fixed: Tattooed Defender no longer receives an I.Q. bonus to M.D.C. (that was weird)

  • Fixed: Cyber-Knight Psi-Sword and Psi-Shield display correct I.S.P.

TotalCon 2023

TotalCon is next week!

I ran a play test of Band of Bothers with my coworkers. They had a great time and provided very constructive feedback. I’ve probably run Band of Bothers more than any of my one-shots, though it’s literally been 5 or so years since I’ve run it. I had to do some updating, but it’s ready to go!

Prizes!

I had a sizable store credit with Palladium Books. I used that credit to purchase six Dead Reign core books and six Heroes Unlimited 2nd Edition core books to be used as prizes at TotalCon. I went way over my credit for the purchase, but Palladium Books sent them anyway, which was very generous of them. I wish I could have afforded six Rifts Chaos Earth core books, but that would have gone way too far over the credit.

GenCon 2023

I’m going to GenCon in August!

I was up in the air about going since it‘s an expensive trip, but I was able to secure a room in the convention center, which means I won’t need to rent a car. That makes the trip much more manageable financially. It’s also less stressful. Since I run events, it’s a pain in the butt to lug books and props around all day, whereas, with a convention room hotel, I can drop them off and get them whenever.

At GenCon, I’ll be running the three same events that I ran at TotalCon. This works out well since they’ll be relatively fresh in my mind, and TotalCon can be another play test of the events. Special thanks to Jeff/NMI for handling the event submissions via Palladium Books.

Final Notes

I have updated the “Subscribe” page on this site. Feel free to subscribe if you want to get updates about RC Builder or my other Palladium/RPG ramblings. The form only asks for your email address, your first name, and your favorite Palladium Books game. I won’t sell your information to anyone. I wouldn’t even know how to do that anyway.

Apparently, I am supposed to add a Privacy Policy to my site. I guess we can look forward to that as well.
