Huge Update - Rifts Character Generator

NOTE: This character generator is for my own personal use for now. I can’t/won’t release it without permission from Palladium Books.

Hello! It has been a long while since I’ve posted. However, this does not mean I haven’t been working hard on my Rifts Character Generator (from hereon known as RCG.)

It is somewhat functional. Character creation supports the following features so far:

  • Select Race

    • A handful of races are currently supported:

      • Human

      • Grackletooth

      • Larmac

      • Wolfen

      • True Atlantean (Including Tattoo selection - in progress)

      • Lemurian (in progress)

  • Select O.C.C.

    • I have a bunch of O.C.C.s working. Many of them are from the core book, but there are many others such as the Gunslinger from New West and the Expediter from Black Market.

  • Select Level

  • Select Alignment

  • Toggle if this is a Black Market character

  • Toggle if this character is Psionic (unless the character is psionic by default due to Race or O.C.C.)

  • Roll Attributes

  • Select Hand-to-Hand Combat Style

  • Select Psionics

What excites me about this app isn’t that you can roll stats, etc…. but that it also keeps a dynamic audit as you go. Are you wondering how your character got a P.S. of 28? The app can show you how!

Let me step through what’s working so far. I’m going to create a Grackle Tooth Gunslinger who happens to be a part of the Black Market.

Here we go:

And you can see that it provides you with details about the O.C.C. and Race. Since this is all for testing purposes (and since I want to minimize copyright violations), the ability descriptions are greatly abbreviated and may not be accurate at this time:

Now I select the Level, Alignment, and toggle Psionics (false) and Black Market (true):

Now comes the fun part. Let’s roll attributes! You simply click the “Roll” button next to each attribute. If there is a bonus, you simply click that as well. Don’t like your total? Roll again! Note that it’s using the Grackle Tooth’s dice notation, not the typically 3D6 for humans.

Also notice that you select our Hand-to-Hand combat style on this page.

Your Saving Throw bonuses are displayed as well.

Note: as Attributes change, your Combat and Saving Throw bonuses update dynamically right in front of you!

Hmm…. how did I end up with a +4 to Dodge? Hover over it and see! It looks like I got a +1 from Attribute (P.P.) and +3 from Hand-to-Hand Expert:

Next, you get a summary of your character’s O.C.C. and Racial abilities, along with collapsable windows for Attributes, Combat, and Saving Throw bonuses:

Next, we select Black Market details! Let’s say he’s a member of El Oculta and will select three Black Market abilities:

Now let’s select Skills. Getting this to work took years off of my life! There are still bugs to work out so far, but you get the idea.

First, you have your Base Skills (already calculated for you):

Now select your Related and Secondary skills. Note that as you select physical skills, your Attributes will automatically re-calculate, as well as your Combat bonuses. Let’s select a few (I’ve expanded the Attributes and Combat bonuses page as an example):

Wait! How on Rifts Earth did he end up with 8 Attacks per Round??? Let’s check!

And how about his high M.A.???

And why is Find Contraband only 55%???

Thia is where I'll conclude this post for now. I need to clean up Psionics and Magic. Power Armor works, but that wouldn’t apply to this character. The big thing I’m lacking right now is Cybernetics. I’ll get to it eventually…

Oh! One more feature! You can print your character sheet out, imagine that! Simply go to the Print command of your browser and print! Check it out:

So that’s where I am right now. If anyone has suggestions about the aesthetics or the user interface, please let me know. I am all ears!

I also want to give a special shout-out to Rogue Scientist Allen who has been giving me great advice and feedback along the way.

Thank you!
