NaNoWriMo Update
As I mentioned in my previous post, I am participating in NaNoWriMo this year. My goal is to write 50,000 words towards a Rifts module. I have some grand ideas for this, so I began writing! You may be wondering how it’s going so far. Well, it’s November 15th and I have written this many words:
1,974
Yes, I’m quite behind.
Truthfully, writing this module has become more challenging than I thought. An adventure where the players are vampires is great for a one-shot, but it’s not translating well into a long-term module. I see three options here:
Continue writing the module, but as a one-shot instead of a long, drawn-out module.
Re-write the adventure, but flip it; the players are the vampire hunters and the vampires are the antagonists. This would add potential to the adventure: these vampires have a single objective, whereas the "good guys” have more diverse motives.
Do both. Write the one-shot where the players are the vampires, then write it again with the players as the protagonists.
I’m leaning towards option 1. I’ve already made a lot of progress and there are other modules I want to write. With the release of the Raw Preview Edition of the upcoming Lazlo sourcebook, I’m going to be filled with ideas.
And that’s all for now…
